Abstract:   (150 Views)
Background and Aims: Depression literacy and mindfulness can prevent negative psychological states, such as depression during musculoskeletal pain. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and pain perception in adolescents with musculoskeletal pain, with the mediating role of depression literacy.
Materials and Methods: This study used a descriptive-correlational design and structural equation modeling. The study population was adolescents in Quds, Tehran, Iran, in the first six months of 2025. For this purpose, 300 adolescents were selected through convenience sampling. Participants completed the Brown and Ryan Mindfulness Scale, the Raiisi et al. Depression Literacy Questionnaire, and the McGill Pain Perception Questionnaire online. SPSS-26 software was used to analyze correlations, and AMOS-8.8 software was used to evaluate the fitted model.
Results: The findings showed that the structural model of mindfulness on pain perception in adolescents with musculoskeletal pain, with the mediating role of depression literacy, is appropriate. Moreover, mindfulness has a direct effect on the pain perception of adolescents with musculoskeletal pain (P=0.001). Moreover, depression literacy has a direct effect on pain perception in adolescents with musculoskeletal pain. Mindfulness, mediated by depression literacy, has an indirect effect on pain perception in adolescents with musculoskeletal pain.
Conclusion: A structural model exists between mindfulness and pain perception in adolescents with musculoskeletal pain, with the mediating role of depression literacy. It is recommended that physicians, health psychologists, and clinical psychologists utilize the findings of this study.
