Introduction: Mental disorder includes significant disorder in thinking, emotion regulation or behavior. One of eight people live with a mental disorder worldwide according to reports from the World Health Organization.
Aim: Currently, the prevalence of mental disorders in Iran is steadily increasing. Therefore, epidemiological studies can play an important role in determining the extent of the problem, prevention, and treatment.
Method: This descriptive study was conducted in 2024 which focused on adults residing in Ilam Province. A total of 234 participants were selected through convenience sampling. The research instrument utilized was the short form of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). Data were analyzed using SPSS software, employing descriptive statistics and percentage scores.
Results: The data revealed that 36.35% of male obtained standard T-scores between 60 and 70 on the depression, hypochondriasis, and hysteria scales. Similarly, 35.31% of female participants had T-scores ranging from 60 to 65 on the depression, hypochondriasis, hysteria, and psychopathic deviate scales.
Conclusion: The results indicated that the psychological profile is slightly higher than normal range on the scales of depression, hypochondriasis, hysteria and paranoia. Therefore, there is a tendency of disorder in these scales.
