Abstract:   (15 Views)
Suicidal ideation and attempts represent one of the most serious psychological challenges among adolescents, posing a significant threat to individual and societal well-being.
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral suicide prevention therapy on self-regulation and suicidal thoughts among hospitalized adolescents.
This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest-posttest design with follow-up assessments. The population consisted of adolescents with suicidal ideation or unsuccessful suicide attempts who were hospitalized at Besat Hospital in Sanandaj in 2023. The sample included 5 participants selected via simple random sampling. The intervention comprised 10 to 12 sessions of suicide prevention cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a focus on relapse prevention, delivered individually on a weekly basis. Follow-up evaluations began on month post-intervention and continued for three consecutive months. Research instruments included the Beck Depression Inventory-II, the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation, and the Miller and Brown Individual Self-Regulation Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS version 26.
Findings indicated that cognitive-behavioral suicide prevention therapy significantly reduced suicidal thoughts and improved self-regulation among adolescents(p < 0.05).
The results suggest that cognitive-behavioral suicide prevention therapy can serve as an effective approach for reducing suicidal ideation and enhancing self-regulation in hospitalized adolescents.
