Background and Aims: Migraine is a chronic and debilitating neurological disorder characterized by episodic headaches, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and impaired daily functioning. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of brainwave entrainment using binaural beats on migraine symptoms among university students.
Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted using a pre-test/post-test design and a control group. The study population included students from universities in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran, during the 2024–25 academic year. After screening using the Ahvaz Migraine Headache Questionnaire, 30 students (13 females and 17 males) who met the criteria for migraine symptoms were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to an experimental group (N=15) and a control group (N=15). Data were collected using the Ahvaz Migraine Headache Questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software (version 27).
Results: The findings indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of migraine symptom severity (P < 0.001). The mean score of migraine symptoms in the experimental group significantly decreased, compared to the pre-test and the control group.
Conclusion: The results of the study showed that brainwave entrainment using binaural beats is effective in reducing migraine symptoms among university students.
