Abstract

Introduction: Each organism chooses one of two life history strategies, fast and slow, depending on its environmental conditions and species. The Arizona Life History Battery questionnaire determines which strategy it chooses.
Objective: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Arizona Life History Battery questionnaire (short version).
Method: The present study is a validation study of a measurement tool for correlational studies. The population includes all people over 18 years old who were residents of Shiraz in 1403-1404. A sample of 200 people was taken using stratified sampling. Confirmatory and exploratory factor analysis were used to assess the construct validity. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined through Cronbach's alpha internal consistency and test-retest. Concurrent validity was measured by the Health Promoting Lifestyle Questionnaire.
Findings: The results of factor analysis showed that Cronbach's alpha for the main factor of the questionnaire was 0.82. Also, by performing a test-retest, a correlation coefficient of 0.82 was obtained at a significance level of 0.99. The concurrent validity of this questionnaire was obtained as a correlation coefficient of 0.78 at a significance level of 0.99. The results showed that there were eleven strong significant factors with an eigenvalue higher than one in this scale, which in total explain 82.69 percent of the total variance. The chi-square ratio is 1.95. The goodness of fit index, which is explained by the model, is 0.91 and 0.90, respectively.
Conclusion: The Arizona Life History Battery questionnaire has appropriate validity and reliability. This questionnaire can be used in research.
